INDOOR SHORT MAT BOWLING 2026-2027
Indoor Short Mat Bowling Roll-ups

Indoor Short Mat Bowling League

Hello PBC Members
Not long now before the end of our outdoor bowls season at Prestbury.
It’s time to make you aware of the opportunity to try Short Mat Indoor Bowling during the winter months. Just like last winter, we will run two different options.
Social Indoor Roll-Up: Wednesdays – Macclesfield Leisure Centre
This is our regular Wednesday ‘roll up’ at Macclesfield Leisure Centre. We book a 2-hour slot between 1pm and 3pm most Wednesday afternoons from mid-October through until mid-March, with a break around Christmas.
Last year we typically had between 10 and 20 bowlers for each session. No need to book anything, you just ‘roll-up’. We then play short pairs matches, usually over 6 ends, and then rotate the teams so everyone gets several games. Very casual, and good fun.
To cover the costs, a small charge of £2 cash is charged each week.
For further information, please check the PBC Website and also the Clubhouse Notice Board. Details will also be posted on the dedicated Indoor Bowling WhatsApp group, once the block booking has been made to firm-up dates.
Indoor League Bowls: Mondays – Bollington Civic Hall.
The Bollington Bowls League is now starting on Monday 12 October with our practise afternoon, 1 - 4pm
£3 per person
Representatives from Prestbury Bowls club will be there to show you how to play and the rules of short mat bowls.
Come and try it out to see if you like it ... no commitment necessary
Based at Bollington Civic Hall, PBC has entered a team for the last 3 years.
It runs throughout the winter months and is an informal Indoor League competition that takes place most Mondays, 1pm till 5 pm, either side of Christmas. There will be a small weekly match fee – only when you play.
Around 5 or 6 local teams play one another multiple times over the season. The Prestbury team is coordinated by Mark Cole. You just turn up and play a singles and a doubles match through the afternoon. All points are added up at the end to score the match.
Short mat skills are slightly different to Crown Green bowls but just as challenging and exciting as, potentially, bowls fly in every direction!!
For members considering Indoor Bowling for the first time, a good option is to practice your skills at Macc. Leisure Centre ‘roll up’ sessions and, if you enjoy it, play occasionally for the league teams on the Monday when you are available.
In short, a great way to keep in touch over the winter!
