Prestbury Bowling Club celebrated its 21st anniversary in 2021.  The bowling green is located behind the Village Hall and occupies an idyllic location adjacent to the Bollin Valley conservation area.  It is surrounded by mature and well-presented gardens.  Prestbury Bowling Club prides itself on being a very friendly club offering social, competitive and league bowling.

A Club for Social Bowling

Bowlers can enjoy friendly, non-competitive bowls throughout the season (1st April until mid-October).  On Mondays and Fridays, members are encouraged to roll up and play with whoever turns up.  The green is available 66% of the time mid-week and 90% of the time at weekends providing plenty of opportunity for practise or a match with your friends.  An active Ladder and friendly pairs competitions are available throughout the season.

A Club for Competitive Bowling

A full programme of full-day and half-day competitions is organised each season with refreshments provided by members.  Monday evening practice matches are organised for the early part of the season and give members match practice in a non-league environment.  Matches are organised for players of a similar standard. This benefits newer members by enhancing their skills in a friendly atmosphere, as well as introducing them to other members.

A Club for League Bowling

The club enters teams in the leagues organised by the Macclesfield & District and the Alderley Edge & District Bowling Associations.

These competitive league games are played throughout the season on Tuesday mornings and afternoons (Veterans Mixed), Tuesday evenings (Mixed), Wednesday evenings (Ladies), Thursday mornings and afternoons (Mixed) and Thursday evenings (Mixed).  The club installed state-of-the-art retractable lighting allowing competitive evening matches throughout the season.

We can provide free Training

Training is provided by fellow members in a variety of forms to address the needs of beginners/novices.

We support disabled people and those who are partially sighted

The club is committed to enabling disabled people and the partially sighted members of our community to enjoy a game of bowls and has appropriate equipment, as well as coloured bowls, for that purpose.

We like Visitors

Members may bring guests who, for a small fee, can play bowls whenever the green is not allocated for league matches or competitions.  Equipment is available in the clubhouse.  The only proviso is that all players MUST wear flat-soled shoes on the green and guests should not play regularly, as this would be unfair to members who pay the full subscription.

A place to Relax and Socialise

The clubhouse provides ample seating for viewing the green when taking refreshments between games.  It is fully provisioned and has the facilities for making hot and cold drinks.  The green is surrounded by benches to take advantage of those sunny days.

Several social events such as Supper Evenings, team dinners and a Christmas Party are arranged during the year.

New members are most welcome

We provide bowls to use initially, until you decide to invest in your own set of bowls, so apart from flat-soled shoes, you are ready to go straight away.  If you are interested in joining a friendly and well-run club, whether an experienced player or complete beginner, please contact our membership secretary at prestburybc@gmail.com for further information or go to the Membership Page for pricing and application form.
